Product Introduction:
As a typical transition metal carbide, titanium carbide ceramics are brittle and cannot be directly used as engineering components. Therefore, they are usually used as reinforcement phase in composite materials, and are more commonly used as coatings in the field of materials to get application and attention, such as the emergence of titanium carbide foundation ceramics.
Product Features:
Titanium carbide foundation ceramic is a kind of heterogeneous composite material composed of metal or alloy TiC ceramic phase, which has the characteristics of high strength, high hardness, wear resistance, high temperature resistance, oxidation resistance and chemical stability of ceramic, as well as the toughness of metal, which can be used to manufacture high temperature thermocouple protective cover and crucible for melting metal in reducing and inert atmosphere.
Preparation method:
Titanium carbide powder is generally prepared by the reaction of TiO2 and carbon black in a carbon tube furnace or frequency-modulated vacuum furnace with hydrogen at a high temperature of 1600℃--1800℃. The forming method can be conventional ceramic forming method, hot pressing method is generally used in firing, and self-propagating high temperature synthesis method (SHS method) can also be used, which has the advantages of energy saving, simple process and high purity of products.
Scope of application:
① Cutting metal tool: New titanium carbide foundation ceramic is a tool material which has developed rapidly in recent years. It has high comprehensive performance, and its wear resistance is much higher than ordinary hard alloy under the same cutting conditions. In high speed cutting than YT14, YT15 hard alloy wear resistance is 5 ~8 times higher. At present, titanium carbide foundation ceramic has been made into a variety of blades, for the fine boring of holes and "to the car instead of grinding" and other finishing fields.
(2) Aerospace industry: TiC/Cu cerceries prepared by high temperature sintered skeleton melting process have better ablative resistance, and have the potential as rocket throat lining, protective plate materials.
(3) Others: The metal-based lining ceramic synthetic by centrifugal casting method with SHS can be used as an anti-corrosion pipeline, used for the transportation of petroleum or chemical products and semi-products, can also be used as an anti-wear pipeline for mines, concentrators for pulp transportation pipeline, and can also be used for the water transport pipeline of multi-muddy sand water
